Shailene Woodley Eyeing A Run For Congress: ‘I’m Not Going To Rule It Out’

Shailene Woodley could be looking at a career outside of show business, revealing in a new interview that she’s considering running for political office.

If she pursues her goals, Woodley wouldn’t be the only politician who knows a thing or two about “Big Little Lies”, and explains that she first flirted with the idea while campaigning for Bernie Sanders’ presidential bid last year.

A political activist who who was arrested last year for protesting the controversial Dakota Access Pipeline project, Woodley can see a future for herself in politics.
“There was a point last year when I was working for Bernie Sanders where I thought, ‘Huh, maybe I’ll run for Congress in a couple years,’” the “Divergent” star told The New York Times. “And you know what? I’m not going to rule it out. Who knows? Life is big, and I’m young.”

In the interview, she also clarifies a statement she made in 2015, when she declared she didn’t consider herself to be a feminist, “because to me it’s still a label.”

Since then, however, she’s had a change of heart.

“I would today consider myself a feminist,” she explained. “If females start working through the false narrative of jealousy and insecurity fed through a patriarchal society, then not only will we have more women feeling confident in themselves and supportive of one another, but we will start introducing a type of matriarchy, which is what this world needs. We need more softness and more silence and more pause through the chaos.”
